Falling in love with Fallen

Lucinda Price has been kicked out of her school for an incident she can't explain. Now she's forced to enroll into Sword & Cross, a reform school hiding some pretty deadly secrets. There are bars on the window in her room and a graveyard for a backyard. To top that off, cameras other students refer to as "the red," watch her every move. If that isn't bad enough, Luce sees these shadows every where she goes. She can't explain it. They've just always been there.

Just when Luce is ready to accept her fate, she meets Daniel Grigori. He's the only light to this dark world. Too bad he blows her off and is extremely rude. Borderline cruel, really. The thing is, Luce can't help but feel as though she knows him from somewhere. And she won't stop until she finds out how.

Daniel knows this game. He's played it before. While it kills him inside, he knows it'll be worse for Luce if he doesn't try to push her away. Not that it ever works. For Daniel is a fallen angel, cursed to fall in love with the same girl over and over again. And Luce is a fellow immortal and is somehow connected to Daniel. But there's more to Luce's story than meets the eye.

Lets do a love sandwich. I'm going to point out what I liked about the book, then a couple things I didn't like, but end it on a high note.

I love the concept behind the story. Who wouldn't enjoy a story about fallen angels and a love that lives throughout the ages? Another good point, there's some explaination towards the religious aspect behind it. Not too much to where it's overwhelming, but enough to fully understand and enjoy the story.

Down points. There are parts of the story that seemed to just linger about nothing. At times, I felt bored, but after a few pages, it picked back up. Also, when the book ended, it left a lot of questions unanswered. I hate that. It's a pet peeve of mine. I guess it should be expected considering this is only the first book in the trilogy.

And back to love. Daniel Grigori makes the book worth while. He's the boy you love to hate. Ariane is also another character I enjoyed. I actually liked her more than Luce. She's that funny spunky friend everyone wants. Plus, while I did say that the beginning can be a bit boring, the last 200 pages are pure bliss. When it ended, I wanted to scream because I wanted more.

If you're into fallen angels tossed in with a paranormal romance and a bit of Southern Goth, this is the book for you. The more I think about it, the more I realize how beautiful it really is. For those of you who have read it, pages 357-358 made my heart skip! And for those who haven't, when you do, you'll see what I mean.
