Review : Crescendo (Hush, Hush #2)

Title: Crescendo (Hush, Hush #2)
Author: Becca Fitzpatrick
Published: October 19th 2010 by Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing

Synopsis:
The sequel to the New York Times Best selling phenomenon, Hush, Hush! Nora should have know her life was far from perfect. Despite starting a relationship with her guardian angel, Patch (who, title aside, can be described anything but angelic), and surviving an attempt on her life, things are not looking up. Patch is starting to pull away and Nora can't figure out if it's for her best interest or if his interest has shifted to her arch-enemy Marcie Millar. Not to mention that Nora is haunted by images of her father and she becomes obsessed with finding out what really happened to him that night he left for Portland and never came home. The farther Nora delves into the mystery of her father's death, the more she comes to question if her Nephilim blood line has something to do with it as well as why she seems to be in danger more than the average girl. Since Patch isn't answering her questions and seems to be standing in her way, she has to start finding the answers on her own. Relying too heavily on the fact that she has a guardian angel puts Nora at risk again and again. But can she really count on Patch or is he hiding secrets darker than she can even imagine?

Thoughts: Wow. Amazing! If you thought Hush, Hush was good, wait till you read Crescendo. I promise, it will blow your mind away!

Crescendo begins where Hush, Hush ends. Patch is Nora's guardian angel and really, things couldn't be any better. In fact, Nora begins to fall in love with Patch. The thing is, does he love her back?

Patch begins to become more distant and secretive towards Nora. And what's up with him spending all his time with Marcie Millar? So, what's a girl to do when your guardian angel/boyfriend won't tell you anything? You snoop, and that's what Nora does. But playing detective is harder than Nora expected. Plus, there's the added bonus of Scott, her mother's best friend's son. Scott's a bad boy with secrets of his own. What do you get when you mix two bad boys and a girl who thinks she's Harriet the Spy? A fabulous fall read!

While I adored Nora in Hush, Hush, I had a few issues with her character in Crescendo. Her jealously is less than ideal, and I hate how she jumps to conclusions before investing the facts. There's also the added bonus of her using her friends, and the way she makes rash decisions prior to discussing it with anyone else. Oh, Nora. You have much to learn.

Now, onto someone else! I will say I very much enjoyed Vee's character, more so than I did in Hush, Hush. She's a true friend to Nora and is always there to loan a helping hand or car. She's still the same sarcastic, king of superficial Vee, but more developed. I couldn't see why she was Nora's best friend in Hush^2, but now I can and do.

Then there's Patch. Oh Patch, how I love thee! I love his arrogance and his innuendos. In Crescendo, he has this new kind of...sweetness?...he brings to his character. His patience with Nora really surprised me a well. Charm, charisma, call it what you will, but Patch has it all! As far as swoon-worthy boys go, Patch is quickly becoming one of my favorites. Who doesn't love a reformed bad boy who still holds on to his edge? RAWR!

Full of suspense, surprises, secrets and an ending that will shock you to your core, Crescendo is a Fall must read. Believe me, it's an epic tale you don't want to miss. Though Crescendo may be hitting stores October 19th, I can't help but think and dream about Tempest (Hush, Hush #3). I know it will release sometime next Fall, but the brat in me wants it now. PLEASE, LET IT BE SOON! I can't stand waiting any longer!
