Book Breakups

Book Breakups is hosted and inspired by Lori at Pure Imagination.

Did you ever start reading a book and just couldn't get through it? I know we should give every book a chance, but if I'm still not into it after 100 pages, I sometimes make the decision to call a quits. This doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad book. It's just not the one for me.

Why I Called A Quits: First off, I love the cover. Isn't it stunning? It's what originally drew me to the book. While the writing is elegant and there's a great concept behind it, I just couldn't get into it. I even cheated a little and started reading another book on the side. I know, shame on me. After a little over 100 pages, I decided to move on. Maybe down the line, I'll give it another go, but for now, it's time to look for something else.

  1. Shame, because you're right, the cover is gorgeous! But I break up with books all the time, so I understand! With so many TBR, it's hard to stick with something that's not holding your interest!

  2. Aw, I'm sorry you couldn't finish it. I've had several like that. Most always, all you need is a little time. Good luck!

  3. I had a pretty dramatic breakup with Crescendo. The reasoning: It started out with Nora describing, in great detail, how hot Patch was. I was like, "Puh-lease! Are we really sinking that low?" Then it went on to have an extremely unrealistic encounter with a girl who was meaner than Satan. I found the lack of realism and depth in the antogonist to be insulting to my intelligence and the focus on Patch's utter hotness was just too much. I ended up reading the ending, deciding I didn't care what happened, and returning it to my library unfinished.

  4. Perfectly understandable, we can't love them all and why use time to read something you don't really like when you can be reading something you love. I agree though its such a shame that the cover is so beautiful.

  5. I liked Entwined ok, but was disappointed. It's so hard when a cover looks so promising and the story just isn't there (I've felt that was about the entire Need series by Carrie Jones).

  6. Aw, I'm sad to hear that you didn't enjoy this one. By the looks of it, I thought it would be amazing but thanks for the honesty. I'm curious to see what I'll think of it when I read it now.

  7. The cover is rather lovely and I probably would have picked up the book myself based on that. It is unfortunate that a book with such a wonderful package is not as attention grabbing within.

  8. We talked about this at dinner I loved Beautiful Creatures cover a lot more than the book. Before everyone throws something at me I did love Beautiful Darkness.
