Cover Alert: Passion by Lauren Kate

Remember, this isn't the 3rd book in the series, but rather, in a way, a prequel. On Goodreads, the summary reads "Before Luce and Daniel met at Sword & Cross and fought immortals at Shoreline, they lived many lives. . . ."

Lauren has stated on her blog that Passion is going to be about all the past lives Luce and Daniel have lived through together. I can't tell you how excited I am about this. What was missing, for me, in all the books were their past lives. Those were my favorite moments in Torment.

Enough about the book, lets talk about the cover. What do you guys think? Personally, this is my least favorite of the 3. It's odd to have cover Luce facing forward instead of having her back to us. I do love the contrast in colors. I'm guessing this book will have a darker tone than the others. I mean, after all, we know each life Luce has lived prior to Fallen did not end well.

Overall, while this is not my favorite cover, I still think it's beautiful. My favorite, of the three, is still Torment.

Special thanks to Goodreads for posting the cover. Gotta love waking up to new, beautiful book covers!

  1. I'm ready for the book but I'm not loving the cover. I don't think it fits into the gloomy setting of the other two. It is a beautiful cover but they could have done a better job at tying it with the first two. Just my opinion.

  2. I really love all the beautiful covers in this series but haven't even read Fallen, I know I'm ashamed to say it but it is on my TBR pile I just need to get to it. =)

  4. Agreed, its my least favourite cover. Fallen is still my favourite I want a soft velvety poster of that cover xD. I think its the colours I like the least of all about this cover but I still think its a beautiful cover.

  5. I'm not a big fan of the cover, personally, because of the model. I just think she's too thin, healthy, but thin :(

  6. All the cover images come from the same artist who has her own account on deviantART: http://gilraen-ar-feiniel.deviantart.com/ The one for Passion looks the most touched-up. There are several other artworks she has done very akin to the first two book covers and I agree that this one looks a little strange alongside the other two in the series. There are many others which might have looked better. I haven't read any of the books myself yet so I can't say how well it fits with the tone of the other novels.

  7. Cynthia- You need to read the books. I think the first one starts off really slow (it took me like 150 pages to get into it), but they're pretty good!

I also don't like the model's dress. LOL, I'm no fashionista, but it's not very pretty. The other two dresses on the other covers were much more beautiful.

  8. @Yan- Yeah, the model is way too thin. She needs some biscuits and gravy, lol.

@Sandy- LOL! The first cover is velvety. I forgot about that! I wonder if they sell posters online somewhere. HMMM...

  9. I think it is probably the ugliest cover i have ever seen! I would have liked to see her with her back facing toward us and she could have the rose on her lap..the background could have stars too! or she could be facing us but her hair is sideways covering her face while she is holding the rose against the ground! i think those would have looked way better than the cover above, besides in the cover (above) her face looks a bit manly and she kinda looks anorexic.

  12. Not really loving this cover. It seems harsh especially in comparison to the other two. The only reason I have read the books is because I keep getting sucked in by the covers. I don't even like the series! So maybe I will be able to resist this one. But....it does tell the past of Luce and Daniel - OK - so I will probably cave.
