***WARNING: Will be spoilery if you have yet to read I Am Number Four***
Summary: "I've seen him on the news. Followed the stories about what happened in Ohio. John Smith, out there, on the run. To the world, he's a mystery. But to me . . . he's one of us.
Nine of us came here, but sometimes I wonder if time has changed us—if we all still believe in our mission. How can I know? There are six of us left. We're hiding, blending in, avoiding contact with one another . . . but our Legacies are developing, and soon we'll be equipped to fight. Is John Number Four, and is his appearance the sign I've been waiting for? And what about Number Five and Six? Could one of them be the raven-haired girl with the stormy eyes from my dreams? The girl with powers that are beyond anything I could ever imagine? The girl who may be strong enough to bring the six of us together?
They caught Number One in Malaysia.
Number Two in England.
And Number Three in Kenya.
They tried to catch Number Four in Ohio—and failed.
I am Number Seven. One of six still alive.
And I'm ready to fight."
Thoughts:Great Caesar's Ghost! Talk about your fabulous sequels. The Power of Six is an action-packed thrill ride that doesn't end till the very last page. If you're looking for an addicting novel that will have you craving more, you're in for a treat.
The Power of Six picks up right after I Am Number Four end, only this time it's not from John's point of view. No, in fact, this story is told through Marina, aka Number Seven. The story begins with some background information about Marina. Unlike the other Cepans, Marina's seems to want to forget about Lorien and pretend they're actually human. It seems like they may have dealt with more problems than the others, but they've also kept under the radar too, so they must be doing something right. The thing is, Marina knows of the others, what happened in Paradise, and knows the other Gardes must unite.
And for all you John Smith, aka Number Four fans, have no fear. The points of views will alternate between Number Seven and Number Four, so you're in on the journey either way. It's so hard to discuss what happens without spoiling anything. Just know there will be many, and I mean many, twists and turns, so be prepared. Pay attention and be prepared for the unexpected, especially when it comes to John and Sarah's relationship. Holy freaking cow!
All in all, if you're a fan of the series, this book will not disappoint. I have to admit that when I first picked up I Am Number Four way back when, I was a bit skeptical, a little bored at times, but enjoyed it. As for The Power of Six, there is never a dull moment. Even the memories and background information are enticing. Plus, I think I have a bit of a girl crush on Number Six, but hey, who wouldn't? I'm hoping the next four books will be told through the other Gardes' points of views because learning about Marina was a delightful treat. If you are looking for a book with plenty of butt-kicking, entertaining moments that will surprise you, and have you asking for more, then this is the book for you.
