Waiting on Wednesday

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine. It showcases each blogger's most anticipated books. This week, my pick is Fever (Chemical Garden #2) by Lauren DeStefano.

**Caution: This is the sequel to Wither, so if you have yet to read Wither, I would highly not recommend reading Fever's summary. It DOES contain spoilers!**

Summary: "Rhine and Gabriel have escaped the mansion, but danger is never far behind.

Running away brings Rhine and Gabriel right into a trap, in the form of a twisted carnival whose ringmistress keeps watch over a menagerie of girls. Just as Rhine uncovers what plans await her, her fortune turns again. With Gabriel at her side, Rhine travels through an environment as grim as the one she left a year ago - surroundings that mirror her own feelings of fear and hopelessness.

The two are determined to get to Manhattan, to relative safety with Rhine’s twin brother, Rowan. But the road there is long and perilous - and in a world where young women only live to age twenty and young men die at twenty-five, time is precious. Worse still, they can’t seem to elude Rhine’s father-in-law, Vaughn, who is determined to bring Rhine back to the mansion...by any means necessary.

In the sequel to Lauren DeStefano’s harrowing Wither, Rhine must decide if freedom is worth the price - now that she has more to lose than ever."

Why I Can't Wait: After I first read Wither, I was kind of on the fence about it. I didn't know whether or not I really liked it or how I really felt about it. Slowly, but surely, I came to fall in love with it. The world, though not very detailed, is sad yet beautiful, as are the characters. Now, I cannot wait to read it's sequel! I need to know what happens next. Will it be a happily ever after or will the world come crashing down?! I guess you and I will find out in February 2012!

Expected publication: February 21st 2012 by Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing

  3. I really can't resist dystopians. I don't believe I've met one I disliked yet. Wither didn't really leave me dying for Fever, but I'm still looking forward to it :]
