Review : Rapture (Fallen #4) by Lauren Kate

"The sky is dark with wings . . . .

Like sand in an hourglass, time is running out for Luce and Daniel. To stop Lucifer from erasing the past they must find the place where the angels fell to earth. Dark forces are after them, and Daniel doesn’t know if he can do this—live only to lose Luce again and again.

Yet together they will face an epic battle that will end with lifeless bodies . . . and angel dust. Great sacrifices are made. Hearts are destroyed. And suddenly Luce knows what must happen.

For she was meant to be with someone other than Daniel. The curse they’ve borne has always and only been about her—and the love she cast aside. The choice she makes now will be the only one that truly matters.

In the fight for Luce, who will win?

The astonishing conclusion to the FALLEN series. Heaven can’t wait any longer."

First line: "First there was silence-"

Thoughts: What a fantastic conclusion to a (to be honest) bit of a rocky series. If you're like me and have a love-hate relationship with the Fallen series, questioning whether or not to read the last book or finish the series in general, take my advice and just do it. Believe me, RAPTURE is SO worth it!

FALLEN, TORMENT, and PASSION are all good books, but in my opinion, they ran a little slow. The pacing just isn't something I normally enjoy, however, something about the series kept me reading. I wanted to know what would happen with Luce, Daniel, and Cam. I wanted to know all of Luce and Daniel's past lives and how it'll affect their future. Will they end up together? How will Cam play into this story? What about the others? And what is up with Lucifer?

I assure you that RAPTURE will answer all of these questions and so much more. The pacing is SO much better than Kate's other novels. There's action, suspense, romance, and the whole package. There were times I clutched the book, determined to find out what happens next. Nowadays, I find myself taking a week or so to finish a book. In this case, not so much. Y'all, I finished it in TWO DAYS. Seriously, I couldn't put it down. RAPTURE is a book that needs to be devoured.

Will everyone love it? Probably not. The ending is somewhat bittersweet and not packaged in a pretty pink bow. For me, that's a-okay. I personally don't like a too perfect ending. Do I wish the ending was different? Yes and no, but at the same time, I still found it to be beautiful in it's own way.

“I want you to know that I would do it all again. I will choose you every time.”

“All that is good in Heaven and on Earth is made of love. Maybe that wasn’t your plan when you created the universe—maybe love was just one aspect of a complicated and brutal world.

But love was the best thing you made, and it has become the only thing worth saving.

This war is not just.

This war is not good. Love is the only thing worth fighting for.”

Yes! So true. Why does love always feel like a battlefield?

“Just getting to first base seems to be a problem for you two," Cam couldn't resist saying.”

HA!!! Sorry, I HAD to include that quote in my review. What a mixture of saddness, humor, and truth.

“Mortality is the most romantic story ever told. Just one chance to do everything you should. Then, magically, you move on.”

Overall, I really enjoyed this last installment in Kate's FALLEN series. I know I'm leaving a lot of details out of my review, but it's only because I don't want to ruin the book for anyone. Being the final installment, it's difficult not to spill any spoilers, ya know? I will say this...

For all you romance fans out there, RAPTURE will not disappoint. It pulls your heart strings at the right moment and continues to do so till the very end. I'm smiling just thinking about it.

Le sigh.

  1. I'm so intrigued! I have a love/hate relationship with the series as well.

    Why bittersweet???? Must. FInd. Out.

  2. I was planning on reading this one anyway since I've read the rest of the series, but I'm glad to hear it's better than the others. I really liked the first one, but the other two haven't quite lived up the the first.
And, I'm actually kind of glad to hear the ending is bittersweet. This is one series I would actually scoff at having a nice little ending. It's just too dark for that so it wouldn't fit.

  3. Love-Hate relationship with Fallen= SO TRUE. Good to hear it was worth it to read Rapture. I got ten pages into Fallen in Love in Feb and had to stop. I couldn't go through with it!

I love, love, love comments, and therefore, love you! Thanks for dropping by!
