Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by the fabulous ladies at The Broke and the Bookish. This week's topic is the Top Ten of Your Auto-Buy Authors. Umm, I have more than ten, but let's not tell my husband and keep it between us, yeah? Here we go!
1. George R. R. Martin
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the wonderful world of Westeros, George wrote A Song of Ice and Fire series also known as Game of Thrones. My brother actually got me into the books whenever we were in college. Fun fact: GRRM names J.R.R. Tolkien as one of his favorite authors and says the series will end in a bittersweet Lord of the Rings way. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN, GEORGE? I need to know!
2. Miranda Kenneally
I know I have a picture of us somewhere, but I can't seem to find it. Bleh! Anywho, Miranda writes the Hundred Oaks books, and they are fantastic! If you feel like laughing and swooning, pick one of these books up immediately!
3. Veronica Roth
4. Renee Carlino
For the longest time, all I heard about was how good SWEET THING, Renee's debut, was. Once I finally read it, I completely understood why. I then purchased NOWHERE BUT HERE, loved it, and will now immediately buy every book she writes.
5. Marie Rutkoski
For those of you who don't know, THE WINNER'S CURSE books are my current obsession. I'm absolutely in love with them. THE WINNER'S CURSE held my #1 spot for best book last year, and I'm fairly certain THE WINNER'S CRIME will hold it this year. I still need to check out THE SHADOW SOCIETY (which I have, heh), but it goes without saying that I'll buy anything Marie writes.
6. Colleen Hoover
I seriously love these lady's books. They're hilarious and so well written. The only issue I've had with some is the fact that her main character often cheats on their boyfriend/girlfriend, and sometimes it's understandable, yet other times- not so much. At any rate, I love how generous Colleen is with both her fans and the book community and will continue buying her books for as long as she's writing.
7. Sarah J. Maas
Umm, Throne of Glass series. Enough said. Also, how freaking cute is she? I need her to give me styling tips and to also hand over the QUEEN OF SHADOWS...if she's feeling generous and whatnot, heh.
8. Huntley Fitzpatrick
Huntley's books are easily some of my favorite YA contemps. I just love her writing and how she can write both light and complex novels all smashed into one. Every summer, I look forward to what she has in store for us. .
9. Katie McGarry
This lady is both an amazing writer and fabulous person. I know my list is filled with contemporary authors, and I simply couldn't leave Katie out. Needless to say, my McGarry collection is growing, and I couldn't be happier about it.
10. Stephanie Perkins
Everyone should have Stephanie on their auto-buy list. EVERYONE!
