Perfect Fifths by Megan McCafferty

I have been following the Jessica Darling series since I was 15. Wow, seems so long ago! At the time, I wanted something to read while waiting for the next Harry Potter novel. I grabbed Sloppy Firsts on a whim and fell in love with it. Jessica is hilarious! I love her witty banter and thoughts.

While all the other 4 are written in a journal format (the first 3 for herself and the 4th meant for Marcus), Perfect Fifths is written in third person. Readers will be able to experience Marcus' thoughts and feelings for the first time. For anyone else that has been following the JD series, you'll understand how epic and amazing this is! I don't know about you, but I love me some Marcus Flutie!

The book is broken down into 4 parts. The first part is written in third person and involves Jessica and Marcus running into each other for the first time in years. While the novel focuses on Jessica and Marcus, it also catches you up on what all the past characters have been up to. The second part is written in a different format. It's strictly a conversation between Jessica and Marcus. Personally, this is my favorite part. I've always loved their banter. The third part consists of back to back haikus between the two. If you've been keeping up with the JD series, you'll know how important haikus truly are! And the final part goes back to the third person format. It gives you closure to a story that was first told back in 2001.

You don't have to read the past 4 books to enjoy Perfect Fifths, but I do highly recommend it. Some of the events and conversations won't make sense unless you do. And for those that have been keeping up with this series, Perfect Fifths gives you a little bit of everything from the past. Old friends, crushes-to-end-all-crushes, the "almost" road trip,"crocodile eyes", caste promises, and of course, Barry Manilow! It really is the perfect end to one of my favorite series.

Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick

This was one of the books I had to get once it was released. After reading an excerpt online, I knew I needed to read it. I was craving it! And let me tell you, it does not disappoint!

Hush, Hush tells the story of Nora Grey, your typical high school girl with your not so typical problems. She knows what she wants and isn't afraid to work hard for it. And romance isn't part of it. At least, that's what she thought before Patch enters her life. Patch...mysterious, charming, sexy, and dangerous! Nora doesn't know why, but she knows she should stay away from him. Only thing is, she can't. Not for lack of trying, but everywhere she goes, Patch is there. And the more he's around, the more she's drawn to him. But Patch is hiding a secret. One that could end up destroying her and her life, as she knows it.

There were times in the novel where I thought to myself "oh, I know where this is going." Only thing is, I was wrong. This book is filled with surprises, suspense, romance, and mystery. Throughout the book, I kept wanting my questions answered. By the end, the majority of them were, but it still left me curious about other things. I guess that's what the sequel, Crescendo, is for.

Of course, there are other characters besides Nora and Patch. Vee, for example, is Nora's best friend. I personally didn't care for her. She came off selfish and self-centered. There's Elliot, the new kid from Kingston. He has the hots for Nora. And his best friend Jules (quiet and mysterious). There are others that I will not mention because I don't want this post to become too spoilery.

For those of you out there who enjoy a yummy male lead (I know I do!), Patch does not disappoint. I enjoyed his constant innuendos, confidence and charm. He comes off a bit arrogant. Okay, very arrogant, but I swear, it really is part of his charm. Definitely drool worthy!

In the end, I really enjoyed this novel. The only thing I don't enjoy is having to wait till 2010 for the sequel! Thank goodness for all the other delicious novels out there on my TBR (to be read) list.

Until next time, this is your Book Addict Girl signing off!

Welcome to my Book Blog :)

Hi guys!

First of all, my name is Lena and I'm a BOOK ADDICT! I know there are many of you out there that share my addiction as well (which is AWESOME!).

I wanted to create my own personal book blog so I can share some of my thoughts on novels I've read/currently reading/will read. I'm always happy to hear anyone else's opinions. Feel free to comment, recommend books or leave any form of feedback.

Now, please keep in mind that I majored in Science and Math, so please excuse my poor grammar. I'll try my best, I swear, but I'm not perfect! And feel free to correct me.

Other than that, thanks for reading! I hope you enjoy my blog!

Hugs and Kisses,
